Job Summary
The Strategic Category Manager position is responsible for developing sourcing strategies for assigned categories; building solid relationships; gaining strong customer and supplier knowledge of a variety of goods, services, and products.  Additionally, the Strategic Category Manager is responsible for instituting global governance of supply chain processes across all business entities to monitor category performance.  Excellent organizational skills, ability to balance both short- and long-term priorities, and analytical skills are a necessity.  Key objectives will be achieving/improving/exceeding targeted customer service levels, managing supply and demand within the supply chain in support of a mixed-mode manufacturing operation using established Purchasing Policies and Procedures. 

Essential Job Functions
1. Develop and implement category strategies (to include structured savings initiatives) for each assigned category in alignment with business needs.
2. Globalize and consolidate business needs to standardize supplier spend and identify/ act upon opportunities for leveraging total cost of ownership.
3. Collaborate with business units and staff functions to gain support and alignment across the organization.
4. Build strong business relationships with critical strategic suppliers. Create and negotiate supply agreements consistent with NMT’s business interests.
5. Strategically develop sourcing plans and lead sourcing of Buy for Resale and Raw Materials by utilizing the strategic sourcing process.  
6. Develop a pipeline of category initiatives and opportunities (Savings / Productivity / Risk Management / Innovation) required to meet targets using external supply market / business intelligence, application of benchmarking methodologies and internal business partner knowledge. 
7. Negotiate contracts and monitor vendors’ adherence to contractual terms throughout the relationship.
8. Seek for new suppliers/ products within assigned categories to drive for cost competitiveness. 
9. Analyze and report on supplier performance, quality, and costs.
10. Develop, and deliver accurate reporting in the Monthly and Quarterly Business reviews with suppliers and business entities.
11. Maintain Global Master Supplier Files, including Critical Supplier Scorecards.
12. Special Projects centered around data integrity and continuous improvements as determined by manager.
13. Initiate the setup and onboarding of new global supply chain vendors.  Manage/ monitor supplier performance, adherence to on time delivery, and quality reject rates.  
14. Assist the Sales and Project Management team in quoting for new business opportunities.
15. Serve as escalation point for transactional purchasing teams as may be needed.
16. Serve as escalation point for facility level Buyers for category supplier relationships.

Requirements
  • Four-year College Degree in business, economics, or related fields
  • Minimum of 4 years strategic sourcing and/ or category management experience
  • Experience in: 
    • Strategic procurement process to include RFI/RFP development and issuance
    • Contract negotiations, administration, and management
    • Dispute resolution 
    • Supplier Quality management
  • Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain concepts and application
  • Knowledge and experience within a production environment
  • Oracle Experience is preferred
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, team player, results oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate to Advanced PC skills

The established Compensation Range for this position will be $70,000 to $80,000 per year (paid on a bi-weekly basis) based on experience and qualifications.
