Job Summary
This position is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all production machines; establishes and maintains a sustainable preventative maintenance program that meets regulatory requirements; provides design input to tooling, dies and new machinery; advises peers on the feasibility of new product manufacturing; reviews and approves expenditures for department needs in accordance to department budget; oversees the work and performance of Technicians. 

Essential Job Functions
1. Coordinate with Production to schedule machine maintenance and repairs
2. Schedule technicians for machine tasks
3. Conduct training for technicians
4. Prepare work orders for machine repair
5. Diagnose machine problems and develop effective repairs to minimize downtime for machines
6. Meet with customers and regulatory bodies to discuss machine maintenance programs.
7. Provide input to the following:
  • Prototype tooling
  • Rotary & steel rule die designs
  • New machine design or selection
  • Upgrades for existing machinery
  • Equipment Operating Procedures
8. Coordinate with other engineers on designs, drawings, new ideas and all things related to engineering and machinery
9. Review and make corrections on machines and engineering drawings
10. Respond to inquiries and concerns from other departments regarding machine issues
11. Responsible for opening up the 814 building every morning, turning on all machines to allow for adequate warm up time, start air compressor so production can begin promptly at 6:00 a.m.
12. Abide by all safety and security rules set forth by the company and regulatory agencies
13. Regular attendance

Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electronics preferred
  • Three years progressive experience in mechanical engineering, production, maintenance and/or millwrighting required
  • Three years progressive experience in manufacturing, preferably in the medical device industry
  • Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatics and electronics required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Mechanical and machine shop ability
  • Strong mathematical skills
