Description
Located in our Corporate headquarters, the Staff Accountant will work directly with the Buffalo and Canadian sites. Reporting to the Controller this candidate will perform various accounting functions including month-end closing, financial reporting, distribution of system reports and ad hoc reporting/projects. This role will also provide backup for other financial task as needed.
Essential Job Functions include:
• B.S. in Accounting required
• 1-3 years general ledger experience required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
• Ability and willingness to adapt quickly to changes in business conditions (e.g. acquisitions, mergers, divestitures)
• Experience working in Oracle a plus
• Manufacturing or cost accounting experience a plus
• Proven ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Able to work effectively with cross-function teams (vertically and horizontally) within the organization
• Character and mannerisms/work habits to be able to work with a wide range of personalities, backgrounds, and experience levels
• Strong communication skills
Essential Job Functions include:
- Prepare and post journal entries and perform various account reconciliations in connection with month-end close.
- Run monthly system reports and assist with variance analysis
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly deliverables including financial reports and preparation of supporting schedules
- Assist with the internal and external audits of Buffalo accounts and controls
- Assist with reports to be used in commission calculations
- Manage fixed asset schedules on a monthly basis
- Provide backup support for functions as needed
- Upload third party interface files such as payroll and expense reimbursements into ERP
- Challenge existing processes and streamline/develop new ones to promote efficiencies and provide additional value-add for the finance group as a whole
- Manage and own various accounts including prepaid and accrual activity
- Assist Finance department on special projects
- Support other departments with information and/or analysis when requested.
