The purpose of this job description is to identify the job responsibilities and skills necessary to perform the duties required by a Senior Maintenance Technician 1. The Senior Maintenance Technician 1 installs, maintains and repairs machinery and equipment. They are also responsible for Building Maintenance including plumbing, electrical systems, and physical structures in an industrial environment. In the process of performing their job, they will keep the facilities and property in a clean, safe and orderly condition.

 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install and maintain electrical services per NEMA, state and local codes.
  • Maintain and service complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and controls including programmable logic controllers and effect repairs as required.
  • Inspect and perform maintenance on all heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
  • Maintain civil, effective communications with management and employees in all departments.
  • Understand the importance of preventive maintenance and performing tasks properly in a timely manner.
  • Maintain equipment following Manufacturer’s Specifications for Milling Machines, Lathes, Lasers, EDM’s, Bead Blasting, Passivation, and specialty manufacturing devices and equipment.
  • Assist management with the implementation of efficient productive workflows by installing and/or relocating equipment and support services according to plant layout drawings and verbal instructions. This may include relocation of offices and other building components.
  • Understand tolerance specifications used with machinery/equipment design and servicing, which can run in the tenths of thousandths.
  • Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to report maintenance activities. Verbally keep Technical Services Manager informed about activities.
  • Requires a high degree of judgement, initiative and ingenuity to work independently to achieve assigned functions.
  • Ability to lead and train other Technicians.
  • Must understand the importance of asking for guidance when objectives or procedures are not clear.
  • Keep sidewalks and entrances clear of snow and ice (Prior and during periods of plant operation.)
  • Be on call 24-hours for emergency conditions such as electrical or plumbing failures, fire and/or adverse weather conditions.
  • Work overtime as required.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES (IF ANY) – Optional section (List of subordinate jobs for which this job has direct hire/discipline/budget responsibility)

 

Responsible for prioritizing daily work requests and preventative maintenance work orders. Job entails close liaison with senior management, toolmakers, manufacturing engineers, machinists and production employees. Must interact positively and prioritize their needs.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Qualified training with a minimum of 5 years of experience covering all facets of the required duties and responsibilities and using equipment listed.
  • Potential Candidates will be required to take an abilities test
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Formal training/certification and documented equivalent experience is required in machinery repair, HVAC maintenance, electrical, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Associate’s Degree a plus.
  • Current and valid driver license with a good driving record.
